After a dinner of chicken, ham and roast beef, the group was introduced individually by Wil. Dick Mooers presented slides of his recent trip to Katahdin in Maine and Wayne Ratowski graced the group with slides of some of his frequent winter sojourns.
This was a fantastic first event for the winter folks who enjoyed an evening of good food and good company. The suggestion that this become an annual event on the weekend following the close of the winter season was met with positive response.
Many thanks to all those who made the trip from faraway places to attend and make this event happen. And a special thanks to Wil for his efforts to plan and organize this event and his energetic efforts to shoulder the bulk of the winter correspondent duties this year.
As the season came to a close, Wil reported that his unofficial count of new winter 46ers stood at 19. While the season started with deep snows, it closed with hard conditions which opened the summits to those who had been nearing the final summit on their winter journey.
More details will follow in the upcoming edition of the Boulders Report and elsewhere in Peeks.
