12th Annual Gathering of Adirondack Winter Climbers!

Saturday, March 27, 2010

Crowne Plaza, Lake Placid
Social hour 5-6PM
Dinner 6PM

For the past ten years there has been a dinner gathering of Adirondack winter hikers, usually on the first Saturday after the end of the “official 46er winter climbing season” (12/21 to 3/21 inclusive).  Originally this was an informal gathering of winter climbers but due to its popularity and attendance the event has become a third “annual 46er sponsored event.”  It is an opportunity for newly finished winter climbers to be introduced, recognized, and given the chance to make some brief comments.

For everyone who attends it is an opportunity to spend several hours informally sharing stories of past winter climbs.  The buffet meal provided by the Crowne Plaza has surpassed our expectations and the smaller group size allows for interaction between all attendees.  You need not be a winter 46er to attend and all climbers and friends are encouraged to participate.

·         Note: The Placid Bay Inn will offer anyone mentioning w46 a 10% discount on room rates.  Their phone # is 518 523-2001.

RSVP and payment due by March 10th

Cost is $31/person, $17/kids age 3-12, and free to kids under 3.  It is a full buffet with several entrees, veggies, potato, salad and dessert. There will be a cash bar.

Program:  Bob Collin, who founded the Rochester Winter Mountaineering Society in 1966, will present a slide program of how it was back then. Bob finished his w46 in 1977.

Checks are to be made out to the ADK 46ers and should be sent to:
