The Adirondack Forty-Sixers Spring
Meeting Minutes
The Spring 1998 meeting of the Adirondack 46ers was
called to order May 23, 1998 at 7:45 p.m. President George Sloan introduced
the officers.

Treasurer Ditt Dittmar reported that the treasury
is in good shape.

From the Historian's Office, Mindy Jatulis thanked
all the correspondents and said his farewells, turning the office over
to Tony Solomon.

L. John Van Norden handed out the climbing certificates
to the new 46ers.
-
Peeks editor Suzanne Lance reported they have enough
articles for the upcoming issue of Peeks.

George Sloan reported a successful Outdoor Leadership
Workshop, despite the usual rain.

Trailmaster Joe Urbanczyk reported increased volunteer
participation on this year's trail crews. He said the first outing of the
season was a sweep to the summit of Dix along with rock work/trail hardening.
the day of the meeting 61 volunteers came out. Some were sent to
work on the Round Pond-Dix Trail, some to the trail to Scott's Clearing,
and some to the North Trail to Giant.

George Sloan iterated the 46er policy of "carry in,
carry out," requesting that climbers not leave souvenirs on any summits.
Further, he asked that climbers remove any "trail trash" they do find.

Nancy Allen presented the following slate of candidates
for 1998:

President: George Sloan

Vice President: Barb Harris

Directors: Jim Kobak and Connie Morrison

The secretary cast one ballot and the slate of candidates
was approved.

George Sloan announced that the fall meeting will
be on October10th, 1998 and will include a celebration of the 50th anniversary
of the 46ers.

Following the meeting Sandra Weber presented slides
and gave a talk on Henry Van Hoevenberg..
The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
