CALL TO ORDER, INTRODUCTIONS, AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

The meeting was called to order by President Jim Barnshaw at 7:30 PM.  Jim thanked the class of 2009 for the meal, as class advisers Joy and Brad, 14 students and parents received a hearty applause from the attendees. Jim then acknowledged the ongoing summer trailwork as well as Doug Arnold’s successes with his committee work to rename East and South Dix Mtns.  He mentioned that the next issue of Peeks was in preparation.  Members of the Executive Board were introduced.  Jim then recognized the past presidents who were present at the meeting: Mary Lou Recor, Phil Corell, and Tim Tefft.

FOUNDERS AWARD CEREMONY.  Sally Hoy and John Rutledge introduced the award recipients who have made special contributions to the 46ers.  After the recipients’ biographies were read, patches were awarded to Helen Menz #42, Patsy Myers #1402, Connie Morrison #3875W, Ron Konowitz #487W, Pete Fish #1396, and the Bill Lasher #1277.

TREASURER’S REPORT.  Phil Corell offered thanks to the membership for contributions, which totaled over $19,000.  He announced that the new book about the Adirondack 46ers and the high peaks was in progress, and that a pre-sale to members would be forthcoming.  Finally he announced that the Outdoor Leadership Workshop would be held on the first weekend in May.  Thirty-eight people attended the last workshop.

PEEKS.  Speaking on behalf of co-editors Daniel and Melissa Eagan, who were not able to attend, President Jim Barnshaw encouraged the membership to send in items to be considered for publication.

TRAILMASTER.  Len Grubbs reported that trailwork would commence the following morning on the Round Pond trail to Dix.  Since May, a total of 92 people performed 1,493 hours of trail work.  This included 30.2 miles of blowdown, 2.0 miles of side-cutting, 12.6 miles of drainage, rerouting 280 Ft. of the Elk Lake Dix Trail, construction of 6 bridges (92 linear ft.), 7 rock water bars (141 left), 3 drainage channels (103 linear ft.), 7 ft. of rock steps, and one privy.

Len invited all of the Trailmasters to the stage.  Conservation Service Awards were then offered to those members who performed 46, 146, 346, 546, and 746 hours of trail work.

NEW 46ER BOOK UPDATE.  Tim Tefft announced that the book is almost complete, and probably would be finished in the spring.  He anticipated that the product would be excellent.

The meeting was adjourned by President Jim Barnshaw at 8:05 PM.

The evening program was introduced by Vice-President Tom Wheeler.  Spencer Morrisey, Alan Via, and Brian Yourdon climbed the highest hundred mountains of the Adirondacks as a trio, finishing in the summer of 2007.  Alan offered a brief overview of the mountains and the trio’s efforts.  Spencer then presented a slide show of photos from their hikes, and offered commentary.  Spencer has written a book on the mountains entitled The Other 54.
