Meeting Minutes
BUSINESS MEETING FALL 2007

CALL TO ORDER,
INTRODUCTIONS, AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
President Jim
Barnshaw called the meeting to order at 7:15
PM and welcomed all.
Members of the Executive Committee and past Presidents were
introduced. Jim thanked the leaders and
students for the “family style” dinner.
FOUNDERS
AWARD PRESENTATIONS
Jim and John Rutledge presented the
Founder Award patches to this year’s recipients. These individuals have made significant
contributions to the organization: June Behr #1455, Chris G. Behr #1453, George
Sloan #2651, Suzanne Lance #1802,
David Lance#1801, L John Van
Norden #2110, Nancy Allen #2355, and Jules Comeau
#646. Marty Precheur
#3316, Joe Turon #1016, and Don Hoffman #1148 were
unable to attend but will receive their patch with a letter from Jim. Jim and John also read brief descriptions of
the recipients’ service to the organization.
TREASURER’S
REPORT
Phil
Corell reported that there are 3,534 active 46Rs. Dues notices will be mailed in November. This past year the organization received over
$30,000 in dues, over $17,000 in gifts, and over $18,000 in sales. Donations were made for trail clearing and blowdown sweeps, Wildlife Conservation Society/Bear
Project, ADK Mountain Club/3 Radios, Summit Steward Program, NYSDEC Summer Campership Program, and Wilderness First Aid Support. Phil also announced that the Outdoor
Leadership Workshop would be held during the first week in May, and that
details would be forthcoming. He also
noted that this would be the 36th continuous workshop.
HISTORIAN’S
OFFICE REPORT
Tony reported that the
Historian’s Office processed 842 pieces of mail with 10 helpers and 20
correspondents. There have been 97 High
Peaks finishers
to date. Correspondents’ Service
Patch Awards (a patch) were awarded to Marilyn Corson, Tom Faulkner, Millie Gillinger, Brian Hoody, Spencer
Morrissey, John Rutledge, Joe Ryan, Peggy
MacKellar, and Barb Traver. Eric Bauer, Marta Bolton, Christine Bourjade, Nancy Buckley, Daniel Eagan, Mike Gebhard, Mindy Jatulis, Gary Koch, Mike McLean, George Miller, Gail
Sanders and Ben Tennyson were unable to attend. They will receive their
patch in the mail.
PEEKS EDITORS’ REPORT.
No report (Dan and Melissa Eagan could not attend).
TRAILMASTERS’
REPORT.
Jim Coyne, Sam Eddy, Len Grubbs, Pete Hickey. Len
reported that it was a good year for trailwork. Eighty-nine participants worked for a
combined total of 1300 hours. Fifteen
miles of trails were covered, 6 bridges were constructed, including the bridge
over the Esther Mt. bog, and 60 feet of rock work for trail hardening. Conservation Service Awards were offered to
Tom Pinkerton (746 hrs.), Jim Coyne (546
hrs.), Bob Tomlinson (346 hrs.), Marty Cohen (46
hrs.), Fanny Durocher (46 hrs.), and Daniel Eagan (46
hrs.).
NOMINATING
COMMITTEE REPORT.
Jim announced that members would
include Phil Corell as Chair, Sally Hoy, and
Nancy Allen. Two Director positions will need candidates and anyone interested should
notify one of the Nominating Committee members.
ADJOURNMENT.
In closing the meeting, President Jim
Barnshaw anounced that the spring meeting
will be held on Sunday, May 25, at the Crowne Plaza
Resort in Lake Placid, NY., and that there were currently 20 discounted rooms
for Saturday and 40 for Sunday. The
meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.
Following the meeting, guest speaker
Nola Royce (#1399W) offered a slide presentation of her many mountaineering travels
throughout the world, including Western United States, Canadian Rockies, South
America, Russia, Central Asia, Nepal, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia,
and Antarctica.
